What are the top questions players or teams usually ask before they join one of your football leagues?
Players often ask about referee availability and how to access fixture results. We ensure all our leagues have qualified referees, and fixture results are promptly updated on our website under the "Results & Fixtures" page.
What are the most important things players need to know about playing in our leagues, from signing up to game day?
To ensure a smooth experience, players need to understand the following:
Player Registration: You must be formally registered to play; only registered players are allowed to participate. Players can usually register up until match day, often up to midday. A player may only sign up to one team per division for the season. Captains are responsible for ensuring no player breaches these rules.
Team Size: While matches involve 3 players per side, squads often register additional players as substitutes. Teams may be allowed a maximum of around 7 players per match.
Equipment: All players must wear shin pads and appropriate footwear, such as astro-turf boots or moulded studs. Bibs will be provided to prevent kit clashes.
Gameplay Rules for 3-A-Side Football:
Basic Objectives: Win by scoring more goals than the opposition. Matches are shorter than 11-a-side games, often around 15–20 minutes per half.
Simplified Rules: Some common modifications include no offside rule, rolling substitutions, and no slide tackles outside of safe play.
FA Laws Apply: Standard laws on fouls, free-kicks, penalty kicks, and fair play are enforced, adapted for smaller teams.
Fair Play: Respect referees, play safely, and avoid violent or unsporting behaviour. Red or yellow cards carry fines and possible bans.
Match Flow:
Kick-Off and Restarts: Games start with a coin toss and kick-off from the centre. Restarts after goals follow the same principle.
Scoring: A goal is valid when the entire ball crosses the goal line between the posts. Penalty kicks are awarded for fouls inside the area.
Tips for Players:
Fitness and Skills: Small-sided games demand high intensity, agility, and good ball control. Focus on quick passing, positioning, and teamwork.
Communication: With only three players per side, communication is vital for both attack and defense.
Could you tell us a bit more about how the cash prizes and tournaments work for winning teams?
